Screenshot Saturday: Frank Perry’s Mommie Dearest (1981)

In honor of Mother’s day, this week’s screenshot is from the camp classic, Mommie Dearest. Often regarded as one of the best worst movies of all time, Mommie Dearest shows the dark side of one of Hollywood’s Legends, Joan Crawford (Faye Dunaway). The film is based on the memoir by Christina Crawford, which revealed the abusive and tumultuous relationship she had with her mother. For further viewing enjoyment, the Hollywood Royalty DVD edition features a funny and insightful commentary by John Waters. Surprisingly, John Waters is one of the films biggest proponents, and even states he thinks Faye Dunaway deserved an Oscar for her performance.
